Burnley transfer news: Dyche split over chase to sign Sheffield Utd player, Rival boss hints at done deal

Burnley are still probably a little too close for comfort in this season’s relegation battle.

Sunday’s 3-1 loss against Manchester United means that the Clarets are six points clear of the drop zone with six games left to play.

That probably will be enough of a cushion to see them to safety, but three defeats on the bounce have just sucked them back into the whirling vortex at the bottom of the table a little.

And it would appear that manager Sean Dyche is solely focused on keeping his side afloat, even in the face of widespread uproar regarding the formation of a new European Super League involving six of the divisions top clubs.

Speaking about the matter, he said: “I can’t affect that.

”We will just have to wait and see what the powers that be and these clubs decide to do.

”My focus is making sure we can win games for Burnley Football Club.

”I have no power in these things. People way far higher up the food chain decide.”

Turf Moor chairman Alan Pace said of the plans: “It [The Premier League] is the best league in the world, bar none.

“That's my opinion.

“I can see why there is advantages and why it would turn heads, and I think that that’s never going to change.

“For some people, it will always be 'the grass is greener on the other side'."
