Burnley transfer news: Clarets to battle Leicester City for Serie A midfielder, PL rivals plot major Turf Moor swoop

Burnley took a huge step towards Premier League survival with their 4-0 rout over Wolves last Sunday.

The Clarets ended a fairly poor run of form with a comprehensive victory over Wanderers that left them nine points clear of the relegation zone with just five games left to play.

But despite their advantageous position in the battle for survival, it would seem that Sean Dyche’s men are not resting on their laurels just yet.

Speaking after the game, hat-trick hero Chris Wood admitted that there is still work to be done before Burnley can ease up and relax.

He said: “We have made it hard work for everybody else, especially the ones right down at the bottom, and that’s what we need to do,” said Wood, who is now Burnley’s all-time leading scorer in the Premier League.

“Another win will do it and then we go from there.

“It’s been a tough season, there’s no getting away from it, for me as a striker and the other strikers as well.

“Speaking for myself, it’s been tough. We didn’t have the first six months of the season we wanted and we knew we had to dig in and fight.

“I’m glad that all the strikeforce has come into the fold now and the goals have been coming for everybody.”

Burnley are next in action in the top flight when they come up against West Ham on Monday evening.
