Burnley striker Jay Rodriguez keen to see out his playing days at Turf Moor

The 30-year-old striker has been back at Turf Moor for just less than 11 months having made a £10m move from West Brom prior to the current campaign.

Rodriguez, who started out at the Clarets' Academy, made his debut for the club under Owen Coyle in December 2007 in a home defeat to Bristol City.

He would go on to make 128 more appearances in his first spell at Burnley and netted 41 times across the board before his switch to Southampton.

When asked if he could see himself ending his career at his boyhood club, he said: "Yes, of course. I have loved every minute of it.

"You take it as it comes and every season is different but for me I am back home around my family and friends and that is probably one of the comforts I have missed when being away from home.

"I love coming into training, working hard and getting things out of training to keep improving as a player and keep learning from the manager and the players that I have been playing with."

The one-time England international has featured 31 times since coming home having marked his return in a 3-0 win against the Saints.

His first goal back arrived in a 3-1 loss to Sunderland in the League Cup, but better was to come when he scored his first Premier League goal for the Clarets in a 2-2 draw against Aston Villa in September.

Rodriguez, who scored twice against Peterborough United in the FA Cup, has also found the net against Chelsea, Manchester United and in both fixtures against AFC Bournemouth.

"I have really enjoyed it," he said. "It is a great team to come into and the lads have made me feel welcome from the start.

"To see how the club has changed and moved forward has been brilliant and it has been really good to be a part of.

"I have learnt a lot this season and we still have nine games left so a lot to improve on what we have done this season."
