Burnley transfer news: Clarets face battle to keep hold of Aston Villa-linked Josh Brownhill, John Lundstram wanted

Rumoured departures at Burnley tend to involve James Tarkowski but that wasn’t the case over the weekend.

The latest gossip surrounds the future of Josh Brownhill, who has established himself as a key player in Sean Dyche’s starting XI this season.

Brownhill has appeared 26 times for the Clarets in all competitions and in recent weeks has filled in as a makeshift right midfielder.

He has become an ever-dependable member of the Burnley squad and it seems his performances haven’t gone unnoticed.

As per TEAMTalk, West Ham, Aston Villa, Wolves, Southampton and Crystal Palace have scouted the 25-year-old in recent months.

Brownhill moved to Turf Moor in January 2020 after joining from Championship side Bristol City. Indeed, he used to be on the books at Manchester United as a kid.

Meanwhile, Burnley are again being credited with an interest in Sheffield United midfielder John Lundstram, according to the Daily Mirror.

The 27-year-old is out-of-contract this summer and it seems extremely unlikely he’ll commit his future to the Blades as relegation nears.

That said, it appears Crystal Palace are leading the race with Lundstram appearing high on their list of transfer targets.

Palace themselves are preparing for a busy summer. Roy Hodgson and a number of first-team players are on expiring deals.
