Burnley player seals loan exit, Man United star set for bumper deal - gossip
The January transfer window is just a matter of days away, and it promises to be a busy time for Premier League clubs at both ends of the table.
Much of the speculation surrounding Burnley at the moment concerns the seemingly imminent buyout of the club, but there are still some wheelings and dealings to keep an eye on.
Young goalkeeper Luke Thomas, for example, has sealed a loan move to National League North side AFC Fylde.
The non-league outfit have moved to sign the 18-year-old after they suffered injuries to their two senior options between the sticks.
Thomas could make his debut as soon as Saturday, and will stay with his new club on a short-term work experience deal.
Here are some of the other latest rumours from across the top flight:
Leeds United have been tipped to sign Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo by former England striker Kevin Phillips amid reported interest from Newcastle United. The pundit said: “I think Newcastle, Leeds and a few other clubs will be looking at Rojo. I am sure there would be a lot of clubs on tracking him but Leeds is an appealing club at the moment. I would imagine Bielsa would look at that because that is an area they could do with strengthening in. He also has the experience of playing in big games at a big club.” (Football Insider)
By contrast, Everton will not be entering the race for Rojo. The Toffees have been linked with the defender before, but are now understood to be looking at alternative options. (Football Insider)
Liverpool are closely tracking Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma as a potential replacement for Gini Wijnaldum in the coming weeks. Albion are bracing themselves for offers with a number of other big clubs said to be keeping tabs on the player. (ESPN)
Inter Milan are keeping tabs on Newcastle United defender Fabian Schar. The Italian giants are understood to be in the market for defensive reinforcements, and the Swiss international is said to be one of several names on their shortlist. (Tuttosport)
Christian Benteke’s agent has claimed that there are a number of clubs from across Europe interested in signing the Crystal Palace striker. Kismet Eris told a Belgian publication: “Staying [at Palace] is not excluded, but there is also interest from other clubs from England, Italy and Spain.” (Her Nieuwsblad)
Sheffield United are willing to cover the majority of Jesse Lingard’s £100,000-a-week wages in an effort to sign him on loan from Manchester United in January. (Manchester Evening News)
Marcus Rashford is set for a bumper new deal at Manchester United to ward off interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona. (Mirror)
Newcastle United striker Joelinton has opened up on how much he is enjoying playing alongside Toon summer signing Callum Wilson. He said: “He’s a striker who improves my game a lot, because he’s a reference striker. They always put me as a reference striker for being tall, strong, but I like to play a little free, to get out, move and have the space to receive the ball.” (ESPN Brazil)
