Burnley consider summer swoop for ex-Leeds United man Mallik Wilks, Aston Villa urged to sign Josh Brownhill

Despite it being the international break, there is still plenty of speculation surrounding Burnley.

A big win at Everton a few weeks ago significantly boosted the Clarets’ Premier League survival hopes.

Maybe… just maybe, it’s all-but safe to start planning for another season of top-flight football, this time under new owners.

But even if Sean Dyche isn’t yet looking ahead to the summer, the transfer rumour mill definitely is.

As per Football League World, Burnley have been alerted to the form of Hull City forward Mallik Wilks – and they’re even weighing up a bid to sign him.

The former Leeds United man is leading the Tigers’ promotion charge back to the Championship at the first attempt with 17 goals so far.

His form isn’t going unnoticed either. Apparently, Burnley plan to keep a close eye on the 22-year-old between now and the end of the season.

If the Clarets continue to like what they see, then they may well launch a summer bid.

Meanwhile, former Aston Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie is urging his old club to swoop for Burnley’s Josh Brownhill.

Villa were among the Premier League clubs credited with interest in the 25-year-old and Hendrie admits he is a big fan of the player – comparing him to John McGinn.

He told Football FanCast: “Josh Brownhill, I think he is a fabulous player, I really do. Out of )Sander) Berge and him, I’d take Brownhill all day just because Josh Brownhill reminds me of John McGinn.

“He’s very energetic, he’s very neat and tidy on the ball, he gets up and down the pitch well and you know what you’re getting when you’re getting a player from Burnley, Sean Dyche, what he expects.

"And, obviously, he’s proved that he can do this step up, coming from Bristol City, so I’d certainly take him all day.”
