Ings not looking to leave Turf

Ings is about to enter the final year of his contract and has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs after finishing last season with 26 goals and the title of Championship player of the year.

But Ings, 22 on Wednesday, is just focused on helping the Clarets acclimatise and flourish in the top flight, after winning promotion last term.

Speaking from the club;s pre-season training camp in Austria, the England Under 21 international said: “I don’t understand why it has have gone crazy on social media and the like.

“I signed a four-year contract when I came here and obviously I still have a year left.

“I don’t feel there should be any panic. I am just enjoying my football and going into my last year of my contract.

“As far as I am concerned, Burnley Football Club and the Premier League is where I am, 100%.

“Everybody knows I enjoy playing for Burnley Football Club. It’s a fantastic family club and I am not looking to leave.”

Ings has been the subject of speculation, with clubs such as Liverpool, Southampton, Everton and Newcastle all rumoured to be interested in the Winchester-born forward, who was signed by Eddie Howe from Bournemouth for £1m three years ago.

But Ings is just concentrating on being ready to face Chelsea at Turf Moor in the opening game of the season, which will be televised live on Sky Sports on Monday, August 18th: “The Premier League is a challenge that me personally, and the whole team are looking forward to.

“I think that’s why we have come back this year even fitter than last year.

“We were such a fit squad anyway, but to come back this year, as we have, shows that the lads really want to have a right go and mix it with the best players in the world.

“One thing I know is we will work as hard as we can from start to finish and just try our best against the top teams and hopefully we can surprise a few people.

“And the way the lads look - and how hungry they look - I think we will do that.”
