Ings could go all the way to senior side - Brian Stock

Ings was on duty with England Under 21s in San Marino for their UEFA European Championship Group One qualifier.

Having linked up with the squad on Sunday night at St George’s Park, Ings joined his Three Lions teammates for training on Monday and Tuesday before flying out to Serravalle on Wednesday.

Last night’s game is followed by a home qualifier with Lithuania at Ipswich Town on Tuesday night.

It is Ings’ first international call-up at any level, but teammate Brian Stock feels he could make the step up to become a full international in time.

Stock, a Wales international himself, with three caps, said: “That’s a really big step, but I think, out of every single player I’ve played with, he has the potential to go right to the top.

“Certain players have something that can turn games in an instant.

“He’s got the quickest feet, he’s lively, he works hard, he’s honest, he’s got a great attitude.

“He can go a long way.”

Ings has 11 goals to his name so far this season with Burnley, and Stock added: “I’m delighted he’s got his call-up, he fully deserves it.

“I’ve been trying to give him advice and he’s been messaging me.

“It’s great for him and I think it’s going to be a great learning curve.”

Boss Sean Dyche concurred: “Danny deserves his call-up. Let’s make no mistake, he has been in fine form from pre-season and taken it into the season, so he deserves it.

“Danny is delivering performances for himself, but also for the team, with a really strong work ethic.

“I think he will learn from going around with a different group of people and an open-mindedness to new coaching and new voices.”
