Ings could be bargain of the century

Burnley have yet to receive any offers for top-scorer Danny Ings, with a week left until the transfer window closes.

The Clarets have consistently made their position clear on the 22-year-old’s future - insisting the England Under 21 striker will remain at Turf Moor until the summer at least.

Ings’ contract runs out at the end of the season, but it seems Burnley’s stance will be tested in the coming days, with Tottenham reportedly ready to offer £5m, while he has also been linked with Southampton following Shane Long’s injury in the FA Cup this weekend, as well as Chelsea and Manchester City, who are both looking to increase their quota of homegrown players.

Ings looks likely to keep his options open until the summer, when he is also likely to be in action for England at the European Under 21 Championship Finals, but should he decide to move on from Burnley, the Clarets would be entitled to a fee if he remains in England.

However, in terms of performance against price, what he could be available for is as unbalanced as it gets.

Opta-powered fantasy football game www.oulala.com have had a closer look at the player, who could prove to be bargain of the century.

After comparing Ings to flavour of the month Harry Kane, the stats prove just how good a season the Burnley striker is enjoying.

With just a year separating the pair and both Internationals at under-21 level for England, they’re at a very similar stage of their careers.

Ings has appeared just once more than Kane in the Premier League this season however the stats are remarkably even. The Tottenham man has scored one more goal and has a slightly better pass completion percentage than Ings. That’s where it stops. The Burnley forward leads Kane for assists, chances created, has completed a higher percentage of dribbles, has won more tackles and has also provoked more fouls than his potential new strike partner.

With Kane having recently signed a new £35,000 a week contract keeping him at Tottenham until 2020, should they push through a move for Ings, the North London club could lay claim to two of the country’s very best attacking talents.
