The Clarets haven’t beaten Blackburn Rovers in 10 meetings, going back to April 1979.

Trippier enjoys the rivalry and banter, giving as good as he got in both games last season, responding to taunts frm the Rovers fans with a chicken dance to mock the club’s owners Venky’s.

Talking ahead of tomorrow’s game, the 100th competitive meeting, he smiled: “I love a derby.

“I love winding the fans up!

“I can’t wait for it.

“I don’t think I’ll be welcomed back nicely at Ewood, but I’m not bothered as long as we beat them.

“It’s football and and everyone loves it.

“But we need to put an end to this 34-year run this year.”

The right back added: “The fans just love it. I love it when they’re screaming at you and shouting at you.

“I just laugh and have banter with them.

“When they’re screaming stuff at you, you just smile. They won’t like it.

“But it’s all about football.

“The fans love it and we deal with whatever they throw at us.

“I just hope we do it this year. It would be really nice.

“I’ve got a lot of mates who are Blackburn fans.”
