Hollywood producer backs Burnley United

As the saying goes, if you don’t ask, you don’t get.

A cheeky message from Burnley United manager Keiren Gudgeon has earned the club a brand new strip, with help from Hollywood film producer Rob Molloy!

Gudgeon saw that Matlock Town’s Just Giving fundraising appeal received a huge boost of a £3,000 donation from Molloy, which smashed their target of £15,000.

Molloy, who follows the Gladiators on twitter, produced the live-action Little Mermaid, and is the grandson of former New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner.

But his love of grassroots football saw him get involved at Matlock, and he has also helped out amateur club Wirksworth Ivanhoe and Denton, Manchester.

Molloy tweeted “I care for football (soccer as we call it over here ha ha) a lot and will always support teams although I am @FC Bayern fan in times of crisis we must stick together.”

Gudgeon chanced his arm as well, and Molloy responded, providing a new Hummel strip in claret, sponsored by American clothing company Infinite Potential, while also paying for a local charity logo for the back of the strips to raise their profile.

United chose Pendleside Hospice, and were delighted to welcome Pendleside ambassador – Clarets striker Jay Rodriguez – to celebrate.

Rodriguez’s brother Joe plays for United, and father Kiko was also able to hand over sponsored warm-up tops via DRN, where the former United striker is a founder member of DRN Sports Management.

Burnley United are always looking for sponsors and remain on the lookout for someone to help with regards to an away strip for the coming season, contact via twitter or [email protected]
