The Clarets’ cup run, and league form, has drawn comparisons with the side of 2008/09 that won promotion and reached the last four of the Carling Cup, where they cruelly lost out to Spurs 6-4 on aggregate after extra time, after miraculously clawing back a 4-1 first leg deficit.

One of the heroes of that season, Graham Alexander, looks back at that run, where Burnley dumped Fulham, Chelsea and Arsenal out, as Sean Dyche’s men look to inflict more Capital Punishment on the Hammers.
