The Fleetwood Town boss is aiming to serve up a Lancashire hotpot as the Cod Army prepare for the start of the new campaign.

Burnley will make their first senior visit to Highbury on July 28th.

The announcement completes Fleetwood’s pre-season arrangements with La Liga side Getafe confirmed as visitors to the Fylde coast in the same week.

Alexander is no stranger to the Clarets.

He was part of the Burnley team which won promotion to the top flight in 2009 and cannot wait to welcome his former club, under the stewardship of Sean Dyche, to his new home.

He said: “I know Sean very well and it was something we organised a little while ago.

“It’ll certainly be a test for us as they’ve done great over the past couple of years even though they had the disappointment of getting relegated. We want to have stern tests in pre-season and that’s what we’ve tried to do. We’ve got some really tough opponents in there this year.

“We’re looking forward to the Burnley one and it’ll be good to invite them along to Highbury for a game.”
