But it is expected the Clarets will come to an agreement with the Belgian club for the former Middlesbrough loan man.

Burnley are thought to have bid €2m, or around £1.42m for the 26-year-old, but Genk are holding out for in the region of €3-4m.

Vossen was in England for talks with Burnley on Tuesday, and is thought to have agreed personal terms and come through a medical, with the clubs now moving towards an agreeable fee for both parties.

The Belgium international was back with the Genk squad yesterday in Orshof for training ahead of a team building exercise in a swamp, but Sean Dyche is hopeful of concluding a deal in time for him to link up with the squad for their training camp in France next week.

Genk manager Peter Maes said: “As long as there’s no agreement, Jelle remains a Genk player and I will treat him accordingly. But we need to work out a solution sooner rather than later.”
