Former Clarets set for Turf Moor reunion with Burnley FC

THREE former Clarets look likely to be included in Barnsley’s starting XI for tomorrow evening’s Npower Championship clash at Turf Moor.

Full back Jay McEveley, who spent time on loan with the Clarets during the 2003/04 season, signed for the Tykes in July from Derby County; defender Stephen Foster (pictured) spent a season with Burnley before departing to Oakwell at the start of the 2007/08 campaign while fan-favourite Andy Gray looks likely to lead the forward line after scoring his third goal of the season from the spot in the 3-1 win against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Mark Robins’ side became only the second team, along with the Clarets, to beat Forest this season after Nathan Doyle and Jacob Butterfield scored either side of Gray’s 56th minute penalty. Gray made a return to form after battling for a place in Barnsley’s starting XI following Garry O’Connor’s brief loan spell from Birmingham City and Chris Wood’s arrival from West Brom, also on loan.

Robins is expected to name the same squad for the trip to Turf Moor with the only possible change seeing Bobby Hassell replacing Manchester City loanee Kieran Trippier at right-back. Vice captain Hassell was sidelined after limping off in Barnsley’s 0-0 draw away at Scunthorpe in September with an ankle injury but returned to action at the weekend replacing Trippier as a 64th minute substitute.

Victory over Billy Davies’ Forest was Barnsley’s first win in five though they’ve failed to win on the road in their previous 12 attempts; drawing two of their five this season. Meanwhile, Jay Rodriguez will be looking to add to his late goal in the 3-3 draw against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane after spending a brief loan spell at Oakwell last season. He scored a 90th minute goal in the Tykes’ 4-1 win at home to Preston North End.
