Footballers’ 46-mile trek for Faith Olivia

AC Milano Football Club completed the journey in memory of Faith Olivia, who was born in Burnley with a rare condition called Cornelia de Lange syndrome, a developmental disorder which affects many parts of the body.

After a life of being in and out of hospital, Faith died aged just 19 months.

Ever since, her family has been trying to raise money for a memorial plaque to be placed at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital where she spent most of her life, so the club decided to help out.

The group agreed the best way to raise the cash would be to take on the Peak District’s Limestone Way, a 46-mile walk that stretchers across two counties.

As well as the walk, the club held a number of charity events including a football match and a fund-raising night to raise money for Ronald McDonald House Charity and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Manager at the club, Callum Krzysik, said: “RMHC agreed to put a plaque up at Alder Hey if we raised £1,000, and so far we have managed to raise £2,500.

“The walk marks the end of our fund-raising events, the lads have worked extremely hard over the last few months.”
