“It will be nice to go to Turf Moor indeed,” said Le Tissier.

“I never played there, which was a shame because it’s one of the great traditional grounds.

“I’m gutted I never had the chance to play there. One of my close friends, Steve Davis, had two or three spells there and captained the club.

“They’ll just get to hear a few of the inside stories from the dressing room over the years, all true stories that have happened to me during my career.

“I hope people find them funny.”

The prolific attacking midfielder, Southampton’s second-highest scorer in the club’s history behind Mick Channon with 162 goals, added: “There’s a nice story about Alan Ball. It’s one of my favourite stories from when Alan Ball was my manager.

“It’s a tale about how he got the best out of me.

“Tim Flowers features, two or three other managers are included, the boys from Sky feature in it a little bit as well with Soccer Saturday stuff.

“There’s plenty in there for the half-an-hour that I speak for. I talk about my favourite goals as well. I just try to cover in my speech the kind of things I get asked in a Q and A session. I’ve been doing it for about six or seven years now and I’ve been all over the place.

“There’s been events at non-league clubs who have been trying to raise a few quid to keep them going, and I’ve done Old Trafford.”

Several former Clarets are currently plying their trade at St Mary’s, namely Jay Rodriguez, Danny Fox, Jack Cork and Richard Chaplow, and Le Tissier has been impressed with each of them.

“I’ve seen them a fair bit now,” he said.

“Obviously Jay only signed in the summer so I’ve only seen him a couple of times.

“Danny didn’t have the easiest of starts to the season with the header back in to the middle of his own box for Manchester City’s winning goal but he’ll learn from that.

“They’ve all been doing really well - I thought Chaplow was outstanding for us in the Championship and Jack Cork is a very good footballer.”

He added: “It looks like Jay may take a little bit of time to settle, but he hasn’t looked uncomfortable at that level.

“The kid has got a great record of goal scoring so I’m sure he’ll just need one goal to set him on his way and he’ll grow in stature and confidence very quickly.”

Tickets for the event, which includes a three-course meal, charity auction and raffle, are priced at £35 and can be purchased online at www.nwsportsevents.co.uk or on 07977 312563.
