Falkirk boss Steven Pressley unlikely to join Burnley

SOURCES in Scotland have ruled Falkirk boss Steven Pressley out of the running to become the new Burnley manager.

Pressley’s odds had dramatically shortened from 66/1 with the bookmakers to 2/1 joint favourite to take over from Eddie Howe.

The Burnley Express’ sister paper the Falkirk Herald this morning reported that the former Rangers and Celtic centre back is not likely to follow the path taken by Owen Coyle of leaping from the Scottish First Division to Turf Moor and the Championship.

The Herald believes there has been no contact between the clubs, and Pressley, nicknamed “Elvis” is not a front-runner.

While the Burnley board met with candidates at the weekend, Pressley was with the Bairns for games at Dumbarton and Raith Rovers, and he took training yesterday at Stirling University.
