Ex-Claret Edgar joins Birmingham City

The 27-year-old, who was brought to Turf Moor from Newcastle United by Owen Coyle five seasons ago, has signed a two-year contract at St Andrews after being released alongside Brian Stock, Keith Treacy and Nick Liversedge last month.

The Canadian international was rewarded with a contract extension in January 2012 after establishing himself in Eddie Howe’s starting XI, but he made just five starts under boss Sean Dyche during the promotion campaign. His last start was in the 1-1 draw versus Watford at Vicarage Road, deputising for the suspended Dean Marney.

Edgar made 114 appearances for the Clarets during his time at the club, scoring four goals which included a spectacular brace against Hull City at the KC Stadium during the 2011/12 term as Burnley fought back from a two-goal deficit to win 3-2.
