Eddie Howe wants Burnley to finish season unbeaten

EDDIE Howe wants his side to try to end the season on an unbeaten run. Play-off hopes are all but mathematically over, 10 points adrift of three of the four sides currently with their fate in their own hands, but Howe retains hope while it remains.

He said: “We set them a target that we want to win every game.

“We want to try now, if we can, to remain unbeaten.

“It’s a tough ask, but you’ve got to set your goals high, and I still believe anything is possible.

“We’re making it more difficult for ourselves by not winning games.

“There is a gap between us and the top six.

“That top six has been our aim all season.

“Whether or not we get there this year we’ll have to wait and see.

“I believe we’re good enough, but it’s a case of transforming that into results.”

Howe hopes to have 21-goal top-scorer Jay Rodriguez available at Portman Road, after he lost his ever-present record at Cardiff with a groin problem, and Danny Ings, who came off at the death, should be fine after suffering cramp.

He was thrilled with his former Bournemouth charge: “I thought he showed really good moments in the game.

“He’s still only 19, but he’s going to be a top player for us, I’ve got no doubt about that.

“I know he’ll score goals for us as well.

“He showed his versatility for us, playing wide left as well, so I’m really pleased with him.

“I think we’ve got good attacking options. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with our attacking play. I’m sure we’ll start scoring goals really soon.

“Danny’s very similar to Pato really, both worked extremely hard.

“With Jay Rod and Charlie (Austin) we’re lucky that we’ve got four strikers who, off the ball, work extremely hard.

“It gives you a great platform to work on.”
