Sean Dyche linked with Burnley exit as League One club consider appointing Clarets legend as new manager

The future of Sean Dyche is a frequent topic of discussion with a number of pundits lauding the job he has done at Burnley.

Dyche, 49, is the Premier League’s longest-serving manager and in his nine years at Turf Moor has taken the club from the Championship to as far as Europe.

West Brom manager Sam Allardyce suggested last week Dyche should grasp any opportunity to manage higher up the Premier League table.

And while this may not be a club that entirely fits that bracket, Dyche has long been linked with replacing Roy Hodgson at Crystal Palace.

According to the Daily Mirror, Dyche features on a three-man shortlist – including Eddie Howe and Swansea City’s Steve Cooper, to take over from Hodgson, who is out-of-contract this summer.

The report adds that Dyche is highly regarded by new owner Alan Pace and talks over a new contract at Burnley are due to take place.

Dyche’s current deal is due to expire in June 2022 but with Palace ready to part company with Hodgson, the Clarets will look to erase any speculation over his future.

Meanwhile, Burnley legend Michael Duff has emerged as a contender for the vacant managerial role at League One side Bristol Rovers, as per the Daily Mail.

Duff has carried out an excellent job in his current role at Cheltenham Town under a limited budget.

Joey Barton is the favourite to take over at the Memorial Stadium but Duff’s efforts in his first managerial role have not gone unnoticed.

Here are the latest transfer headlines from Burnley and their Premier League rivals:
