But he admits there is “much to improve on” for his players.

Burnley struggled to get out of their half for much of the second half, but held out for a point, and Dyche said: “I thought they were very good second half, they got on top of us, worked us harder than the first half, kept the ball, but you have to find different ways of getting points in this division.

“I think we’ve shown we can do that, and shown we can do that in recent weeks.

“There’s still more we can improve on, I’m absolutely sure of that, but defensively, the display from the back five was absolutely excellent.

“Although they had a lot of passing, a lot of play, we really kept them outside the box, and that is a good sign.

“Tom (Heaton) made good saves, but he’s an England goalkeeper, they are saves he makes. But we had two great breakaway chances second half as well.

“They were very good second half, and they are a good side, make no mistake - you can tell by the way everyone is telling the world they are market leaders with the depth in the squad, £20m spent.

“We’ve had a go ourselves by the way, but spent half that and we’re still trying to search to be better.

“There’s a lot of expectation here, and you can understand why. They are a very good side and there are a lot of good things going here.

“We get a clean sheet and a point and we take it gladly.”

Andre Gray went off with a hamstring problem just after the half hour, but Dyche said: “It’s too early to say yet, but it’s his hamstring.”
