Dyche cool on Ebanks-Blake link

The 27-year-old left Wolves at the end of his contract in the summer, with a broken fibula and sprained ankle hindering his chances of earning a deal elsewhere.

However, having begun training again in the middle of November at Compton with Wolves - where Kenny Jackett has ruled out a return for the former Manchester United youngster - Ebanks-Blake, top-scorer in the Championship with 25 goals as Wolves won the title in 2009, has been linked with Burnley.

Burnley were unable to add to their squad before the close of the emergency loan window, with Dyche particularly keen to bolster his striking options, with Danny Ings and Sam Vokes his only senior frontmen.

But he would be able to move for Ebanks-Blake before the January window opens, as he has been without a club since the end of last season.

Dyche smiled when asked about Ebanks-Blake: “Another one of many, (Jay) Bothroyd, are we in for him as well? Just another one of the many.”

Bothroyd, capped once by England, is another free agent searching for a club after his release from QPR in the summer.

Burnley have also been linked with a January loan move for Manchester City’s Swedish international forward John Guidetti, who previously had a spell on loan with the club thee years ago, scoring in the Boxing Day win at Barnsley in 2010.

Still only 21, Guidetti enjoyed a prolific spell with Feyenoord, scoring 20 goals in 23 appearances in Holland two seasons ago, but has had a prolonged spell out with an infected nerve, causing him to lose the feeling in his right leg.

He returned to full training a year ago, and has scored in competitive action, but it is felt a loan switch would be in his best interests to help his rehabilitation.

Meanwhile, Dyche hopes to have Dean Marney available at Leicester City on Saturday after missing five of the last six games with a thigh problem.

Dyche said: “Deano’s had a really good week, so we’re hopeful next week.”
