Dyche - Clarets must be more clinical

Aaron Ramsey netted after 11 minutes after Tom Heaton saved from Mesut Ozil, and the ball ricocheted off Michael Duff’s face before the Welshman drilled in.

But Heaton was barely tested again, while Sam Vokes, Kieran Trippier, George Boyd and Danny Ings had presentable openings.

The loss left Burnley 19th in the table, two points adrift of safety with six games to play, and Dyche said: “We had moments, but you have to take those, that’s something we’ve found all season.

“Certainly second half, first half I didn’t think there was a lot in it.

“I must say, the conditions were tough for both teams with the ball swirling all over the place, and there was a weird feel to the first half, and then second half we got on the front foot, went after them much better, but you have to take your chances.

“We created certainly two good chances, and you have to take them, particularly against Arsenal who don’t give you many.”

He was disappointed with the goal but generally pleased with his players’ defending against the form side in the Premier League: “It was an awful goal. The only disappointment of the game was the goal, other than there was an an obvious desire from the team, a good belief, moments of quality we need to bring to win football matches.

“We’ve been been very good lately in keeping the back door shut, and now it’s about that balance between the two.

“It was an awful goal, but other than that we defended well and limited them to breakaway chances, rather than them building, which they normally do.”
