But in a division where teams can hurt you at any time from any area of the pitch, he admits it hasn’t been his sole focus while preparing his players.

The Hammers are seventh in the table with three wins from seven games, having scored 12 goals - half of which have come from set plays.

Senegalese striker Diafra Sakho has five goals in five starts since a summer move from Metz, and is expected to again partner Ecuador international striker Enner Valencia - a £12m signing from Pachuca.

Dyche looked ahead to the game: “We keep an eye on all areas - it’s the Premier League.

“It’s about trying to establish ourselves in all areas, trying to score and stop teams from scoring.

“We just want to make sure we’re moving in the right direction.

“There are good signs, particularly in the second half at Leicester, when, even with the challenge of injuries, we delivered a good performance and a nice moment of quality at the end.

“West Ham present another tough test - they have changed their line-up from last season, made a number of signings, and look more dynamic.

“They seem to have more pace and a different feel to the group.

“I’ve seen them a couple of times and they are a good side.

“They have spent big money, and it will be interesting to see how we fare against a team that is constantly evolving at this level.”
