Dyche aiming to ensure West Brom loss was a blip

Back at the end of March, Leicester City inflicted the first of only three home defeats Burnley have suffered this calendar year so far.

They beat a Clarets side shorn of Kieran Trippier, Danny Ings and Dean Marney, with Sam Vokes forced off after only eight minutes with a ruptured anterior cruciate knee ligament.

Tomorrow, at the King Power Stadium, the Foxes will again come up against a Burnley team shorn of many key players, with Vokes, Ings, Marney, David Jones, Matt Taylor and Nathaniel Chalobah all likely to miss out.

But boss Sean Dyche is philosophical about the situation: “I wouldn’t say Leicester have been lucky in that respect, it’s just the way it is.

“You can only look at what you’ve got and how you work with that.

“But they’ve had a good start to the season, building on a great season as champions.”

Nigel Pearson’s side lie 12th in the table after two wins, two draws and two defeats - including a remarkable 5-3 success at home to Manchester United.

Burnley look for their first win tomorrow, but both teams are coming off away defeats, and Dyche said: “It’s our job to make sure Sunday at West Brom is a blip.

“Everything os well-documented at this level, but it’s my job to look at the bigger picture.

“Generally we have handled the Premier League well so far, as regards performances.

“We’re not naive, and know it’s about more than that, but we like the framework, we’ve looked solid, but it all comes down to that clinical edge in the top third.

“That’s where we’ve been close, but no cigar so far.

“I’m always confident we can find that - we see how the players work on a daily basis, and it’s about putting that together on the pitch once the whistle blows.”
