The Whalley teenager came on for former Clarets wideman Chris Eagles for his second senior appearance after 66 minutes, with the Millers 1-0 up through Emmanuel Ledesma.

But Telford, 18, struck six minutes from time to earn rock-bottom Pool a point, and he said: “I was speechless to be honest. The night before the game I knew I was going to be on the bench anddreamt about scoring - it was just fantastic.

“I’m buzzing to score. I didn’t think I had a right to get on the end of it, I just went for it and managed to get something on it.

“I couldn’t remember much about the goal afterwards, it was only when I watched it back I remembered.

“Everything about the moment was amazing.”
