Dean Marney set to sign for Burnley FC

A DEAL is certainly not cut and dried just yet, but I understand Burnley have a firm interest in Hull City midfielder Dean Marney.

It has been reported that the club have had a bid accepted for the former Spurs man, who is expected to hold talks over personal terms early next week.

The 26-year-old is set to be one of the first casualties as Hull look to slash their wage bill by over half after being relegated along with the Clarets from the Premier League.

Attacking midfifelder Marney has two years left on his deal at the KC Stadium, and will command a fee.

Barking-born, he started his career at White Hart Lane, making eight appearances, while enjoying loan spells at Institute in Northern Ireland, Swindon, QPR, Gillingham and Norwich.

He also has one England Under 21 cap.

Marney made 17 appearances for Hull this season, and has made 138 appearances for the club in total since being signed by Phil Parkinson four years ago.
