While disappointed not to earn a first win in five league games, Clarets defender Ben Mee preferred to focus on Burnley’s nine-month unbeaten home record.

The 0-0 draw against Watford on Tuesday night was a 14th league game at Turf Moor without defeat, going back to the 1-0 setback against Hull City in March.

And with bottom side Barnsley next up on Saturday at the Turf, the former Manchester City defender is eager to maintain that statistic.

Mee, man of the match against the Hornets, said: “We’ve made this place a fortress really.

“That’s what was lacking last year a little bit, and maybe the year before.

“We’re really positive at home now, and it’s good.

“I don’t think teams enjoy coming here any more.

“We’re doing well home and away, and hopefully it can continue.”

Mee was frustrated not to beat Watford, but felt the side’s disappointment spole volumes: “We played well. We’re happy with the performance in a way, but we felt like they were there for the taking.

“We felt like we could have gone on and won the game.

“There’s a little bit of frustration in the changing room, but it shows how far we’ve come that we’re disappointed with a draw against not a bad side.

“Obviously at home you want to go on and win the game.

“They were play-off finalists last year.

“We’ve come a long way and we just want to keep going up and keep winning those games.

“If we can get a few wins together on the bounce, which I’m sure we can, we can look forward to the busy Christmas period.”

Burnley have taken four points from a possinle 15, which has seen them slip out of the automatic promotion places for the first time since September, and Mee added: “We’ve gone away to a couple of difficult teams and got good points. Saturday at Huddersfield was a bit of a blip but you can’t expect to win every game.

“We didn’t play as well as we wanted to and we were disappointed with that. We were a little bit disappointed on Tuesday but a couple of the lads came into the team after we lost a couple of players so we think it was a positive.”
