Striker Ryan Noble netted twice as Burnley beat Morecambe 4-1 at Turf Moor on Tuesday night in the first round of the Lancashire Senior Cup.
The Shrimps took an early lead through Alex Naylor on three minutes, beating Daniel Nizic after intercepting Kyle Brownhill’s back pass.
But two goals in a minute midway through the half saw the Clarets take control.
Trialist Micah Evans, formerly with Blackburn Rovers, had a hand in both, with the winger supplying crosses for first Noble, and the Steve Hewitt, to convert.
And 21- bec ame 3-1 10 minutes before the break, as Hewitt sent Brownhill down the left, and his cross was finished by Jamie Frost.
Noble grabbed his second two minutes after the interval, smashing in a half-volley from Frost’s flick.
After that, Noble, Frost and Luke Gallagher all went close, but they settled for a 4-1 win and a place in the last eight against opponents to be confirmed.
