Clarets will capitalise on FA Cup bounce says defender Mee

The Clarets overturned a deficit to win a game for the first time in 21 months as goals from Rouwen Hennings and Stephen Ward at the Riverside secured a fourth round tie with holders Arsenal at the Emirates.

And the 26-year-old insists that they’ll utilise that momentum to beat MK Dons this evening in hope of ending a five-game stretch without a win on their travels.

“We didn’t perform in the first half against Boro,” said Mee. “But we put in a really good performance in the second half.

“It’s not an easy place to go because they’re flying and they’ve only conceded a few goals there so to score two and come back from a goal down is a big result. We picked ourselves up and responded. It was a good victory and it was nice to beat them.

“We’ll carry that in to the week now and we won’t let standards slip again. It makes it a lot easier because you’re bouncing in to the next game where you’ll hopefully pick up three points.

“From there you’re flying. It’ll be good to get three points against MK Dons and then we’ll go flying in to the game on Friday. It would be great to keep the momentum going.”

The Clarets negated Karl Robinson’s men at Turf Moor in September as goals from Sam Vokes and George Boyd, either side of Carl Baker’s equaliser on the stroke of half-time, sealed maximum points.

And Mee insists that his team-mates will be looking for a repeat performance at stadium mk. “I personally love playing these games that come thick and fast,” he said. “It’s a good week when you’ve got a lot of games and it’s enjoyable for us.

“We always feel like we can go in to games and win them. We’ve two big away games coming up and we’ll see where we are at the end of the week. I’m sure we’ll come out with two wins.

“We know they’re a decent footballing side who will try to play expansively. We need to go and do to them what we did when they came to our place, reducing them to having to play a bit longer than they would’ve wanted to. We’ll look to capitalise on that but we’ll look to play our own game to win it.

“They’re scrapping and they play some decent football so it’ll be a tough game. We won’t get complacent but we should win the game.”
