The presentation was attended by former Burnley MP Peter Pike who is chairman of the Trust as well as Terry Hephrun and Jane Pike, who are Trust board members. “It’s a token of thanks for all Barry had done for Burnley Football Club,” said Mr Pike. “Frank Teasdale had kept the club alive during the most difficult period in its history.

“Barry then injected money into the club and took on the post of chairman which had effectively seen a rebirth of Burnley FC.

Promotion then followed and ultimately, after 33 years, the club secured a place in the Premier League for the first time.

“Four years later, a second spell in the Premier League and a record of achievement over the past few years has been the envy of many other clubs.

“Despite relegation, we really have had an outstanding season and the belief among the fans is that we can get back into the top league again. Barry played a big part in this.”
