Clarets stars back domestic violence campaign

Burnley FC players Danny Ings, Kieran Trippier, Tom Heaton and David Jones hope other men will follow their lead and pledge never to commit, condone or remain silent about violence against women.

Burnley is a White Ribbon Town, and various organisations have pledged their support for the annual White Ribbon campaign against domestic violence.

Local organisers hope others will follow their lead and sign up to the campaign.

Louise Howorth, domestic violence co-ordinator, said: “A wide range of partners are working all year round to tackle the serious issue of domestic violence across our borough.

“A lot of work goes on behind the scenes, given the sensitive nature of the issue. However, it is important to take part in campaigns such as this which bring the issue of domestic violence into the forefront of people’s minds. I’d encourage men to wear their white ribbon and sign up to the pledge.”

A number of activities are planned over the 16 days campaign to highlight the issue in Burnley.
