I believe the Clarets tabled an initial bid of £3.5m for the 24-year-old, who shone for the Republic of Ireland at Euro 2016, featuring in all four games for Martin O’Neill’s side.

Championship side Fulham have also reportedly registered their interest in Hendrick, who has also been linked with Middlesbrough.

Hendrick joined County in 2008 as a youth player from St Kevin’s Boys in Dublin, and has since made 211 appearancesm scoring 26 goals.

He made 35 appearances last term, netting twice, as Derby were beaten in the play-off semi-finals by Hull City.

Meanwhile, Charlton Athletic wideman Jóhann Berg Guðmundsson is expected to complete his move to Turf Moor early next week.

Burnley had an offer, believed to be in the region of £2.5m, with another £1m in add-ons, accepted last week, and the player has agreed personal terms.

The 25-year-old missed just four minutes of Iceland’s run to the quarter-finals of Euro 2016, recording an assist in the 1-1 draw with Portugal in Group F at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.

He scored six goals for Charlton last season, and added 11 assists.

He is expected back from a holiday at the weekend, and is due to undergo a medical on Monday.
