Clarets fan to end 950-mile Premier League charity trek at Turf Moor

A CLARETS fan will end a 950-mile cycle ride of Premier League grounds at his beloved Turf Moor, in memory of his mum who died of breast cancer last year.

Bath University student Will Procter will visit each of the 20 football clubs of the Premier League to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

His mum, Hazel, grew up in Burnley and was a passionate Clarets supporter, so Will and his best friend, Chris Walter, will end their ultra-endurance challenge by cycling around the Turf Moor pitch at half-time in the match against Middlesbrough on September 10th.

Will (19) was born in Burnley but now lives in Stratford-upon-Avon and is a first year sports science student at Bath.

The pair, who will average 100 miles a day, have so far raised more than £4,000 and hope to reach a target of £5,000 by the time they set off on September 1st.

Will used to cycle with his mum when he was a child but has not done any cycling in recent years.

He said: “My family are all chuffed to bits that I’m doing the challenge, and I know it’s something my mum would have enjoyed as she was very active. It’s been good for me to have something to focus on and lots of my family and friends are going to join me along the way.

“Mum was a very popular person and dearly thought of by lots of people, so they’re keen to join me to remember her.

“Chris and I are very excited about the challenge but at the same time it’s very daunting. We’re complete novices at this and I don’t think we really understand what we’ve let ourselves in for. We’re so grateful for all the support we’ve had so far with organising the trip and to everyone who’s sponsored us, including our shirt sponsors, Trotec Laser Ltd.”
