The law currently states that is a criminal offence to throw anything onto a football pitch - and Burnley Football Club is currently studying detailed CCTV footage to identify the bottle-throwing culprit.

Meanwhile, the supporter alleged to have thrown a coin has since been spoken to by the Police and has received a three-month stadium ban, issued by the club.

And the club has reiterated its stance on all criminal activity within Turf Moor, that even if the Police decide not to pursue any convictions, the club will ban the individual(s) concerned for a period of time.

Their conduct will be continuously monitored and, if they are involved in any further criminal incidents relating to football, inside or outside of Turf Moor, they will be dealt with by extended stadium bans.
