Clarets boss Dyche happy with fourth-successive win

Terrific strikes from Sam Vokes and George Boyd, either side of a headed equaliser from Carl Baker, lifted Burnley up to third, but the Clarets could have killed the game off earlier to make for a less anxious finale.

Dyche felt the Dons should have been reduced to 10 men after Kyle McFadzean pulled back Andre Gray when through on goal in the first half, only for the referee to allow the record signing to advance, only for an off-balance heavy touch to see the chance disappear.

Dyche said: “The game should have been done at half-time, out of sight. For many different reasons, including a sending off that wasn’t, our honesty went against us again.

“It’s impossible he (McFadzean) wasn’t sent off, in my opinion, and I’ve seen it back as well.

“That said, we had that many chances, the game should have been dead at half-time, and it wasn’t. Their goal lived a charmed life for a lot of the game.

“But if you don’t quite kill the game off, they have a right to come back at you, and they did. They threw caution to the wind - why wouldn’t they, they’re away at Burnley and probably think it’s a free one.

“We have got a strength and resilience about us, but there was a nice mix of good play, and we were probably as fluid as we have been this season to open up opportunities, and the last 20 minutes we showed the character, will, desire, framework, all those things that are essential.

“We had a lot of very good chances, really good chances, and it was pleasing to see. Andre could have had three, four or five. I like my strikers to be in there to miss, and if you are, they will go in at some stage.”

He was delighted with two thumping efforts from Vokes and Boyd: “They were two fantastic goals, I think the crowd will be really pleased with the quality of the goals.”
