Charlie Taylor a ‘maybe’ for Burnley’s trip to West Ham

Left back Charlie Taylor remains touch and go for Burnley’s trip to West Ham, with a return in time for Thursday’s game at champions Liverpool more likely.

Taylor suffered a hamstring problem in the first half of the 1-0 win over Sheffield United just over a fortnight ago, and has missed the FA Cup game with MK Dons and Tuesday’s 1-0 defeat at home to Manchester United.

Boss Sean Dyche had hoped he “would be back in and around it”, but is unlikely to take a risk, especially bearing in mind a busy schedule of games.

After Saturday’s game at the London Stadium, Burnley are at Anfield on Thursday, Fulham in the FA Cup a week on Sunday, and have midweek games against Aston Villa and Manchester City at Turf Moor, with a trip to Chelsea sandwiched in between.

And should the Clarets see off Fulham, they will have an FA Cup fifth round tie at home to Bournemouth or Crawley Town on February 10th.

Dyche has an otherwise fully fit squad, but said of Taylor: “Charlie Taylor is a doubt, he is a maybe.

”There are a couple searching for true fitness, as in high-level Premier League fitness, but the squad is coming back together now."
