CCTV images have now been released following the match on Saturday, December 13th, which saw Burnley take on Southampton at Burnley Football Club, in Turf Moor.

Shortly before the match, a small group of people, believed to be Burnley supporters, entered the grounds and made their way to another entrance. They have gone on to confront rival supporters and engage in violent disorder.

Men, aged 22, 17, and 16, have been bailed until February 25th, and a 17-year-old and 18-year-old have been released without charge.

Officers have now identified a number of other people they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

Det. Insp. Martin Melvin, from Burnley CID, said: “Thousands of Burnley and Southampton fans attended the match and the vast majority of fans were good spirited and well behaved.

“Unfortunately a small number of fans took it upon themselves to act violently towards others and cause disruption before the game. We cannot afford to let the actions of a minority spoil games like these for the true fans and to behave like this towards fellow football supporters is wholly unacceptable.

“I would urge anyone who recognises any of the six men pictured in the CCTV images to contact us.”

Anyone with information should contact Lancashire Police on 101 quoting log number 0765 of December 13th 2014.
