After being bizarrely overlooked for last month’s wins over Kosovo and Austria, the Burnley winger has been recalled by Aidy Boothroyd for October’s UEFA U21 Euro Qualifiers with Andorra and Turkey.

McNeil will be looking to add to his three Under 21 caps, having graduated from the Under 20s, where he won six caps.

The 20-year-old has started 58 of Burnley’s last 59 Premier League games.

Boothroyd has picked a 23-man squad for the double header, which starts with an early trip to Andorra on Wednesday, before the Young Lions return to home soil to face Turkey at Molineux on Tuesday, October 13th.

There are two new faces in the squad, with the head coach handing first call-ups to Spurs defender Japhet Tanganga and Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones.

Both players have featured for various Young Lions squads in recent years, with Tanganga being a regular in last season’s U20s group and Jones featuring for the U19s.
