Burnley welcome Chelsea in opening Premier League fixture

Burnley boss Sean Dyche, known affectionately as the ‘Ginger Mourinho’ by fans, will go head-to head with Jose Mourinho on the opening day of the Premier League campaign as Chelsea are the visitors to Turf Moor on Saturday, August 16th.

The Clarets will then travel to the Liberty Stadium to face Swansea City the following weekend before entertaining Manchester United on home soil on Saturday, August 30th.

The last time the Clarets hosted United, Robbie Blake scored a wonderous volley past Ben Foster in an incredible 1-0 triumph which also saw goalkeeper Brian Jensen deny Michael Carrick from the spot.

It will be the first time Louis Van Gaal, currently in Brazil with the Holland national team for the 2014 World Cup, has visited Turf Moor since 1992 when he coached an Ajax side - fostering talent such as Edwin Van Der Sar and Edgar Davids -in a friendly.

Meanwhile, Saturday, December 13th will see a return to Turf Moor for striker Jay Rodriguez with Southampton while Liverpool are the visitors on Boxing Day. Burnley will then round of the calendar year against champions and Capital One Cup holders Manchester City at the Etihad.

On New Year’s Day the Clarets will travel to St James’s Park to take on Newcastle United and will culminate the season away at Aston Villa.
