Read the game exceptionally well, telegraphing passes and picking up positions to restrict Spurs from playing through the middle. Forced Lloris into a low save in the first half and always looking to get the Clarets in-behind with passes from deep.

Alderweireld was certainly aware of the striker's presence. The Belgian international was embroiled in a real physical joust throughout. Barnes was a handful, to say the least, and a first half strike ruled out having strayed offside.
