Burnley players dig deep for needy children

CLARETS players dug deep to help two local businesses provide an Easter treat to needy children in the Burnley area.

The squad held a dressing room whip-round to buy 500 chocolate eggs that will be pooled along with other donations and distributed through the area by Neville Gee Recruitment Consultancy and 2BR.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche said: “We got a phone call from Neville Gee about it and were happy to contribute to a brilliant cause.

“I thought it was an excellent idea. If you can put a smile on someone’s face, why wouldn’t you, so the players have all contributed and it’s a lovely gesture.”

Donnie Doran, Director at club sponsor Neville Gee, added: “The idea originally came from 2BR, who approached us to ask to be a drop-off point for Easter eggs for young children in the Burnley area.

“We were happy to be involved. It’s important to support the local community and the gesture by the football club has been egg-ceptional!

“The football club know it’s important to have a feel for the community and as a business Neville Gee has also done that.

“Ultimately, everyone benefits from this; the football club, 2BR and Neville Gee, but more importantly the children of the town.”

Ahead of Easter Sunday, 2BR will distribute the eggs to hospitals, welfare and refuge agencies throughout the Burnley and Pendle region.

Burnley Football Club would like to wish all supporters a happy Easter.
