Scott Parker’s side were unable to capitalise on Sheffield United’s 1-1 draw with Bristol City, while leaders Leeds United aren’t in action until tonight.
A 1-1 draw was about the right result, however, with Tony Mowbray’s side limiting the Clarets to very few clear-cut opportunities in front of goal.
The points were shared after Zian Flemming got the home side back on level terms after John Swift’s free-kick had given West Brom the lead.
Here’s how Burnley’s players rated:

5. Maxime Esteve - 8/10
Standout performer by far, which perhaps says a lot about Burnley’s attacking play. Made a number of key interceptions. Photo: Kelvin Lister-Stuttard Photo: Kelvin Lister-Stuttard

6. Lucas Pires - 8/10
One of his best Burnley displays to date. Much better defensively and linked up superbly with Anthony. It was his shot that led to Flemming’s goal too. Photo: Kelvin Lister-Stuttard Photo: Kelvin Lister-Stuttard

7. Josh Cullen - 7/10
Dropped deep to collect the ball to keep play ticking over. Struggled to find a way through West Brom’s stubborn backline though. Photo: Alex Livesey

8. Hannibal - 5/10
Struggled to make much of an impact after coming in for Josh Laurent, who was harshly dropped after playing well on Saturday. Seemed too fixated on winding up the West Brom fans. Photo: Alex Livesey
