Burnley player ratings vs Watford as Arijanet Muric has a night to forget at Turf Moor
The Clarets trailed to Joao Pedro’s finish as the visitors punished Arijanet Muric’s calamitous mistake in the 15th minute, but the hosts hit back in the dying seconds of the game.
Substitute Lyle Foster turned Josh Brownhill’s corner onto the woodwork in the fifth minute of stoppage time before Michael Obafemi pounced to turn the ball home.
Vincent Kompany’s table-toppers pulled eight points clear of Sheffield United as a result, ahead of the Blades’ clash with promotion-chasing Middlesbrough at Bramall Lane on Wednesday night.

A very classy operator. The Borussia Monchengladbach centre back will be a huge loss for Burnley after sustaining a rather innocuous injury. Broke through Watford’s press time and time again, carrying the ball forward expertly, and solid defensively, preventing Keinan Davis, Ismaila Sarr and Joao Pedro from trespassing into threatening areas. 6. Ian Maatsen 5
Still young, still learning, but really struggled to settle against Watford. Failed to match the excellence of his early pass through to Johann Berg Gudmundsson as his distribution was well off the money and often put his team-mates under unnecessary pressure. Photo: Clive Brunskill

7. Josh Brownhill 6
Can’t knock the midfielder’s effort and application, but was often overwhelmed by the athleticism of Watford’s midfield. Got in the way when Nathan Tella threatened to get on the end of Anass Zaroury’s cross, but his delivery for the equaliser was top drawer. Photo: CameraSport - Alex Dodd

The tag ‘Mr Reliable’ probably downplays the influence that the Republic of Ireland international has on the Clarets, but you can always hang your hat on him to deliver the goods. A player who possesses Premier League quality with an eye for a pass, a metronome, who grabbed the game by the horns and enabled the hosts to regain control of the midfield.
