Burnley pair happy to play their part in a priceless point against Fulham at Turf Moor!

The pair, who had previously impressed against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, combined to level matters at home to Fulham in midweek.

The Clarets had been trailing to Ola Aina's fortuitous opener early in the second half, but the away side's lead at Turf Moor lasted a few minutes.

A moment of invention from Rodriguez, when spinning Tosin Adarabioyo on the touchline, coupled with an inch perfect pass, set Barnes up for the finish.

And the club's leading Premier League scorer obliged, feeding the ball past Alphonse Areola to claim his third goal in nine league games.

“We had to react quickly,” said Barnes, who netted his 41st top flight goal for the club.

“The credit goes to Jay. He did all the work on the wing. I was just lucky enough to be in the right position.

“It probably wasn’t the best of touches, but they all count and it hit the back of the net and that’s the main thing.

“To see it hit the back of the net was nice.”

The Clarets moved up to 15th in the table as a result and preserved their eight-point advantage over the bottom three.

“The main thing is we didn’t lose and we’ve got another point on the board,” added Barnes.

“We’ve got another huge game at the weekend (against West Bromwich Albion) and if we can get the three points it will be a fantastic week.

“If we can just keep picking up these points and get something at the weekend hopefully it gets us up the table a bit more.”

Rodriguez couldn't have gone any closer to getting his 100th league goal on Wednesday evening.

The 31-year-old looked certain to convert James Tarkowski's driven cross at the end of the first half, only for Areola to get a vital touch to the ball.

But he was happy to contribute in other ways as Sean Dyche’s men came from behind to avoid defeat for the third time in four home league games.

After stretching Fulham's winless run at Turf Moor to 31 games, Rodriguez said: “It was a tough game. We know Fulham have got great quality and are fighting to win every game, like we are.

“But we can dig in and I think a point was fair for both teams.

“We were unlucky not to score in the first half and then thankfully Barnesy put one away.

“After being one down and then scoring you felt the momentum change, but fair to play to Fulham, they stuck in and deserved a point.

“We’ve just got to keep concentrating on what we can do. If we look after how we play and how we approach the games we should be okay.

“But you never know, so we’ve just got to keep working hard, keep our heads down and when it (safety) comes, it comes.”
