And boss Sean Dyche accepts if the time comes, that would be up to chairman Mike Garlick.

However, Burnley’s finances are in a healthy position, with the accounts due soon, and Dyche hailed the decision to keep paying the club’s casual workers during the coronavirus pandemic.

Dyche said, on Sky Sports News, when asked about wage deferrals - which Championship clubs Birmingham City and Leeds United have taken: “If and when needed, I’m sure the chairman will approach us, but it hasn’t been needed yet.

”We are very well structured financially and in very strong shape, so I think there’s a time and place for the right action to be taken and our chairman will decide when that is.

“At the moment they’ve already taken the right action to make sure the casual staff keep getting paid.”

Dyche himself has been cycling with the family back home, as his exercise for the day amid the current lockdown, and spoke of how he is coping at the moment: “I’m reasonably fortunate to have a decent garden, and the weather has been kind.

”There’s always a jet wash which I’ve done plenty of!

”I’m just spending a lot of time with the kids, while still being careful - we’re making the best of it.

”The good thing is all the different ways of contacting parents and loved ones.

”I’m well aware there’s a bigger picture and we’re happy to play our part in hopefully trying to solve the problem.”
