Boss Sean Dyche has often spoken about his wish to be unpredictable and find different ways of winning games.

He said recently: “The best exponents of mixed, clever football for a long time have been Manchester United.

“It’s nirvana for every manager - a team that can operate and hurt teams as many ways as you can.”

And former United youngster Jones believes the Clarets are beginning to do just that.

The 29-year-old is enjoying his football since joining as a free agent in the summer, and said: “It’s been good since I came to the club in terms of results, but I’ve enjoyed being around the club too.

“Hopefully I can have the same impact in the second half of the season as the first.

“We play good football at times, but also can mix it up when the game isn’t effective in that way.

“We’ve got different weapons in our armoury.”

Jones was pleased with the display against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, despite being held 1-1 at Turf Moor: “The performance was good, we’re just disappointed with the goal we conceded, but we created enough chances to win the game. it felt we were free flowing in the second half.

“We played into feet at times but also hurt them in behind a lot and created numerous chances from that.

“On another day, as we’ve displayed throughout the season so far, we would have normally taken them.”

Burnley remain the only Championship side with an unbeaten home record this season, and Jones added: “There are a lot of positives to take. We’re disappointed not to win but if we play like that we’ll win more than we lose or draw.”
