Burnley keeper Jensen kicks off his testimonial year

CLARETS stalwart Brian Jensen kicked-off his testimonial year with a Race Night with a Difference at Turf Moor on Tuesday night.

And the supporters showed exactly what “The Beast” means to them after an eventful 10 seasons with the club, turning out in force in the James Hargreaves Stand.

Over 250 fans backed the Dane’s first event, betting on Jensen and his teammates - former and current - in a series of fun games on the pitch.

Former Clarets striker Ade Akinbiyi (pictured, below left) made a popular return to take part, although it proved impossible for Jay Rodriguez, Danny Fox, Jack Cork and Robbie Blake to attend due to club commitments.

Instead, Michael Duff, Kieran Trippier, Chris McCann, Kevin Long, Archie Love, Shay McCartan, Adam Evans and Daniel Nizic were on hand to compete in events such as a blindfold penalty shootout, nearest the pin, crossbar challenge, keepy-ups, in the bag, Happy Gilmore and the ever-amusing head on the brush.

A pie and peas supper was sandwiched by the games, with an auction to round things off, and a good evening was had by all, setting things up for further events in the new year.

There is scheduled to be An Evening with Brian Jensen in February, looking back on his career, with a return to Turf Moor for several Wembley heroes, before a golf day in April, a testimonial dinner, and a testimonial match, which will be held in July.
