Commenting on the tour, co-chairman John Banaszkiewicz said: “I am delighted that Burnley will be heading to Cork this summer.

“Burnley is a club with strong links to the Emerald Isle. Several of our squad have Irish roots and with Kevin Long having joined us from Cork City I think we will get the kind of warm reception the country is famous for.

“I know manager Sean Dyche, his staff and the Burnley players are looking forward to our game with Cork City, as well as the chance for some valuable team-building as we prepare for next season.”

Mr Banaszkiewicz added: “We will be looking to build relationships and promote the club to new supporters.

“It’s also a good location for Burnley fans to come and support us, as Cork is quite accessible from the North West.

“We’re hoping that as many people as possible will come across and enjoy some great football … along with a pint or two of Guinness, naturally!”

Ticket details for the game will follow.
